Last Turn Home
03:09
|
|||
On the road all day
I’ve been watching all these trees go by
and I just can’t wait
to see the trees that I recognize
Because the trip was great, an adventure made,
but things won’t ever really be the same
until we’re back in the place where we belong (how much longer till we’re)
(Home) Back in my own bed
(Home) the roof over my head
(Home) is where I want to be
On the last turn home, not much more to go last turn home, to everything I know
Coats and camping gear:
packing us into my parents car
Watch daylight disappear
Pretty soon, I’ll realize where we are
Where I know the street names like I know my friends
and I know every crack where the sidewalk bends
as it leads to the place where we belong (how much longer till we’re)
(Home) Back in my own bed
(Home) the roof my our head
(Home) is where I want to be
On the last turn home, not much more to go last turn home, to everything I know
The exit numbers counting down The skyline of our not-so-little town The moon is up, the stars are out They’re here to welcome us...
(Home) Back in my own bed
(Home) the roof my our head
(Home) is where I want to be...
(Home) Back in our own beds
(Home) the roof my our head
(Home) is where I want to be
On the last turn home, not much more to go
last turn home, to everything we know

Breakfast Club
03:25
|
|||
I’m going back to school today
the sun is rising as we start up our Monday
I’m waking up and feelin great
‘cause I’m getting ready in the best possible way
I just get out of bed, drag a comb ‘cross my head
I don’t have so far to go
If I dash down the stairs, I could be the first one there– I think you already know
I’m going to the breakfast club Let’s start our day with us Welcome to the breakfast club We got good things coming up
My daddy slept through his alarm
Yeah, he’s got work today but my mom needs the car He’s got a bus to catch in ten
But he’s got time to squeeze a little hangin’ in
Well, he just gets out of bed, puts a hat on his head
It isn’t so far to go
When he gets down the stairs, he’ll have minutes to spare– I think you already know
He’s going to the breakfast club Let’s start our day with us Welcome to the breakfast club We got good things coming up At the breakfast club...
I’m calling order to this meeting, everybody find your seating. Role call! Can I get a good morning? (Good morning!)
That’s the club greeting, we’ve got to get to eating.
Aren’t you glad you’re not still snoring?
There are membership benefits, we’ve got jelly and toast, it’s no wonder everybody likes our club the most.
You want to eat sweets say “mm-hmm”
Plates of pancakes and cereal to spoon.
All in favor of flavors say “all right!”
Bowls of berries and bananas, bet you want to take a bite.
And that’s the way it goes: wake up, show love, and we out the door. We’ll be back tomorrow, ‘cause it’s not the end.
Same time, same place. We’re gonna meet again.
My parents and my sis, we’re here in breakfast bliss
when I notice we almost left somebody out:
He’s sitting there wagging his tail, those puppy eyes never fail
I grab his food out of the pantry and I say “Good boy, that’s right!
Who’s a good boy?
You’re going to the breakfast club Let’s start our day with us Welcome to the breakfast club We got good things coming up Right before we catch the bus
At the breakfast club...

Showtime
03:30
|
|||
Another holiday,
when my cousins come to play, and we don't have to say
what we're gonna do this time:
we'll have somebody build the sets
we'll need somebody to direct
whatever you need to make your outfit pop every closet is a costume shop
and we can all the spread the news about the show in our living room
let's put on a show
we’ll let them know
that we’re ready to go on let’s put on a show
well here we go
Now the family’s coming soon and there’s a little left to do, but we can make it through
if everybody lends a hand:
we’ll have someone arrange the seats
we’ll make a curtain from an extra sheet
everyone is working so so hard
you know that tonight we’re gonna shine like stars
And when we start to dim the lights, that curtain’s gonna rise
let's put on a show
we’ll let them know
that we’re ready to go on let’s put on a show
well here we go
the family’s here, the lights are low we’re almost halfway through the show and suddenly I think I’ve lost my place
I miss a line, my face turns red
But then remember what you said:
“It’s not about getting it right;; don’t forget to have fun tonight.”
Sing a new song, put a hat on (we can be anything that we want) 3x Sing a new song, put a dress on (you can be anything)
Let’s put on a show,
Here we go,
Put on a costume,
I’m a wizard with a broom, or a fork and you’re a spoon, in our hot air balloon,
as we blast off to the moon, let’s all put on a show.
Let’s put on a show, well here we go!

Biggest Brother
03:47
|
|||
When I first heard the news
that a baby girl would be coming soon,
I was scared that everything would change overnight.
But when you finally came and I heard
our mama speak your name,
well I had never been so happy to be right, and I made a promise then that I
I’m gonna be the biggest brother You’re never gonna need another I’m gonna be big as I can be
I’ll be there when you start to walk I’ll be there when you learn to talk You know you can count on me ‘Cause now we’re family
You're three months older now, and I am so amazed at how you're growing up before my eyes. And I can't wait to show
you all the secret things I know
from dirty bugs to starry skies (And I promise you that I)
I’m gonna be the biggest brother You’re never gonna need another I’m gonna be big as I can be
I’ll be there when you go to school I’m sorry if I act too cool
You know you can count on me ‘Cause now we’re family
Someday when I’m older
I may come home and
I won’t be big and I won’t be strong,
Just a friend who needs a sister to lean on
The family trees grows on
I’m gonna be the biggest brother
You’re never gonna need another
I’m gonna be big as I can be
I’ll be there when you go down the slide
I’ll be there when you start to drive
You know you can count on me
I’ll be there when you need me there
A tea party with your teddy bear
You know you can count on me
‘Cause now we’re family

03:23
|

Come on over!
Glitter, paint and glue Let’s get messy
on a Sunday Crafternoon
Everybody to the table
Gather up all the supplies
Get your favorite colored paper and the world is open wide
‘Cause with these markers I can make
the galaxy or a bunch of grapes for you and me
Come on over!
Pencils, string and tape Arts and crafting,
Oh what we’ll create Come on over!
Glitter, paint and glue Let’s get messy
on a Sunday Crafternoon
Well if you want to play along
You really do need a hat
Folding paper into quarters, halves and thirds You’ll be the captain of the S.S. Arts and Crafts!
‘Cause with these crayons we can draw a cityscape or basketball for you and me
Come on over!
Pencils, string and tape Arts and crafting,
Oh what we’ll create Come on over!
Glitter, paint and glue Let’s get messy
on a Sunday Crafternoon
You and I can draw a gigantic dinosaur, Got crayons and pencils we can share.
Macaroni with some string,
make a necklace with a ring,
it’s a surprise made for our mom to wear.
Let’s build a castle out of craft sticks,
or magic stars on a birthday card just watch this!
Got glitter (check!), glue (check!), finger paint sounds fun and we’ve only just begun!
‘Cause with my paintbrush we can fly
across the waves or through the sky, just you and me

Better
02:40
|
|||
We could watch the hero settle wrong from right
and you could pass the popcorn on a family movie night
Or we could just go outside and take the puppy on the leash Say Hi to the neighbors, and make some memories
Hey! You know it’s better Hey! when we’re together Hey! You know it’s better
I could measure out everything we need
you could mix and help me read from Grandma’s recipe and when it’s in the oven, flip the light so we can see the magic show, begin to grow, a cake for us to eat
Hey! You know it’s better Hey! when we’re together Hey! You know it’s better
‘Cause love is all around our home
so come on out, you know it’s not the same without you
I can play the chords and you can say the words
write ‘em down on paper, no matter how absurd
and then we could find the rhymes and add simple harmony Save the band for later—right now it’s you and me
Hey! You know it’s better Hey! when we’re together Hey! You know it’s better

Backyard Swinging
03:06
|
|||
When I got home from school there was not much for me to do;; all my friends had plans today. Mom’s at work ‘til past five babysitter’s hanging inside
I’m solo, but that’s okay
‘Cause the sun is shining, the swingset’s inviting me to go flying
Ooh, in the backyard swinging Ooh, with my head back, singing Ooh, in the backyard swinging
You could easily mistake me
for a spaceship maybe
or an airplane soaring by.
Or you could squint your eyes and make out a superhero flying over our town!
I wouldn’t blame you—it wouldn’t be the first time
Because the sun is shining, the swingset’s inviting
me to go flying
Ooh, in the backyard swinging Ooh, with my head back, singing Ooh, in the backyard swinging
And if I swing so high, I might just swing up to the sky
and I could join the clouds and look down at my tiny house and when I’m in the air I might just think of living there
and maybe never come back down
Ooh, in my own cloud city
Ooh, with nobody to bug me
Ooh, but I think I might miss my
Ooh, my house below
Ooh, the family I know
Ooh, maybe it’s time to go back to the
Ooh, the backyard swinging
Ooh, with my head back singing Ooh, I’m in the backyard swinging

Rooms
03:17
|
|||
Mom and dad are going out;; baby sitter’s on her way They told me it’s my job to be tour guide today so I show her the living room and my artwork on the fridge She was impressed but this is only the beginning cause
In my house we have got so many rooms
(Once you walk through the front door, you’re never gonna get bored) In my house every spot is pretty great
but if you're asking me I'll tell you 'bout my favorite place:
(It’s my room) It’s a space that’s just for me (my room) Got it set up perfectly
(my room) I’ll be what I wanna be
here in my room, and you know I like it like that
We’ve seen the kitchen now, and our height lines by the door I lead the sitter down the hall to show her more, yeah my parents have their room, I go there when I can’t sleep and we got a basement it’s the best for hide-and-seek, ‘cause in
In my house there is just so much to see
(our porch is screened in, no bugs gonna get in)
In my house every room is pretty fun
but if you're asking me I'll tell you 'bout my favorite one:
(It’s my room) It’s a space that’s just for me (my room) Got it set up perfectly
(my room) I’ll be what I wanna be
here in my room, and you know I like it like that
Our family pictures down the hallway,
over there is where we fold the laundry,
Can’t wait ‘til we’re eating soon,
and you can watch me set out forks and spoons
Up in the high chair, that’s where we feed the baby
We have a big green couch, you know it folds out easy That’s the end of the tour,
If you need me knock on the door of my, of my, my room
(It’s my room) It’s a space that’s just for me
(my room) Got it set up perfectly
(my room) I’ll be what I wanna be
here in my room, and you know that I love (my room) (my room) books and trophies on the shelf
(my room) drawings that i made myself
(my room) it’s a little messy, yep,
but it’s my room, and I you know like it like that

Halfway Down
02:23
|
|||
Halfway down the stairs, Is a stair where I sit, There isn't any other stair, Quite like it,
I'm not at the bottom, I'm not at the top,
So this, Is the stair, Where I always stop,
Halfway up the stairs, Isn't up, And isn't down,
It isn't in the nursery, It isn't in the town,
And all sorts of funny thoughts, They run through my head, It isn't really anywhere, It's somewhere else instead,
Halfway down the stairs, Is a stair where I sit, There isn't any other stair, Quite like it,
I'm not at the bottom, I'm not at the top,
So this, Is the stair, Where I always, Stop.

Dancing in the Kitchen
03:02
|
|||
Another cold and rainy Saturday
I had been sitting on the couch all day
But then I heard steps on the floor, I turned around to see what for There was Grandma, grinning, she took my hand and said to me:
Get on up! You don’t know what you’re missing Everyone is dancing in the kitchen
Pots and pans are holding down the rhythm Get on up! Move into position
Everyone, grooving is the mission
pots and pans, we’re dancing in the kitchen
So I planned out my next move, and went to my sister’s room, yesterday we had a fight but a kitchen dance party can make it alright, she’d been waiting to receive an invitation from me
I laughed and said “Get excited! You’re my sis, of course you’re invited!”
Get on up! You don’t know what you’re missing Everyone is dancing in the kitchen
Pots and pans are holding down the rhythm Get on up! Move into position
Everyone, grooving is the mission
pots and pans, we’re dancing in the kitchen
We got spoons, cans, forks and knives, pots and pans
We got plates, bowls, cookie sheets for dinner rolls
We got ladles, whisks, muffin tins and a lot of chopsticks
We got ladles, whisks, and hold up, Grandma’s got a saxophone!
So when you’re out there living everyday
You got a groove but think that it could wait
a kitchen’s just a kitchen anyway
you can dance any time, anywhere, all you got to do is say
Get on up! You don’t know what you’re missing Everyone is dancing in the kitchen
Pots and pans are holding down the rhythm Get on up! Move into position
Everyone, grooving is the mission
pots and pans, we’re dancing in the kitchen

Moving Day
03:24
|
|||
I put some boxes by the door
They said, “Dress for colder weather;; we’re headed someplace north,”
and to wear my favorite sweater.
And mom says, “It’s hard
to leave so many things,
but our hearts are full
of everything we’re bringing.”
Moving day: it’s what we take away
Passing through the kitchen,
see the marks upon the doorframe–
little notches carved into the wood where a brother and a sister stood up tall– still showing through the new paint.
And dad says, “It’s hard
to leave so many things,
but our hearts are full
of everything we’re bringing.”
Moving day: it’s what we take away
Home
was never just
these rooms and walls;; now I know
it was us all along.
Moving day: it’s what we take away
